Silver dollars and coaster #2!
almost 2 years ago – Fri, May 10, 2024 at 12:54:54 PM

Hey backers!

We want to send you into your weekend with two pieces of good news!

9 silver dollar coins will be added to every copy of Deadwood Deluxe and the Deadwood Upgrade Kit! These partner up with the 9 greenback tokens to give players extra re-rolls or extra turns. Spend your cash wisely, or you may find yourself out of luck (or out of the game!)

The silver dollars reference the star design from the original star pawns, the year 1876, and the great state of South Dakota (home of Deadwood). We've also snuck in the latin phrase "carpe omnia" which means "seize everything" (a helpful reminder to not be too big of a team player while you're in Deadwood).

The Tortuga coaster has been revealed! The jolly roger lurks near the island, while a rowboat full of pirates look to be up to something. Perhaps the mermaid (or something bigger?) will foil their plan. As a reminder, backers will each receive one mystery Dark Cities coaster with their order. We'll reveal coaster #3 soon!

Have a lovely weekend!

Dark Cities coasters!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 07, 2024 at 12:48:48 PM

Hey backers!

We have three quick things to tell you.

Dark Cities Coasters: To celebrate nearly 10 years of the Dark Cities, we will be including an engraved wood coaster for each backer who orders at least one copy of a deluxe edition or upgrade kit!

We will be making five different designs (one per game), and backers will receive a random/surprise coaster in their package (we couldn't resist the suspense). Each is hand-drawn by our incredible illustrator Sarah Keele. First up we're excited to show you the Salem coaster!

New Reward Levels: We've added a new Upgrade Kit Trio and Upgrade Kit Complete Set reward level that is cheaper per kit than the original levels, but does not include the bonus item. You are more than welcome to change your pledge to one of these new tiers.

Hollywood 1947: Finally, our newest Dark Cities game, Hollywood 1947, has been nominated for best party game of 2024 on Board Game Geek! If you have enjoyed the game we'd really appreciate your vote

We'll reveal the next coaster in a few days. Have a nice week!

Thank you!

Hey Backers!

The Dark Cities Deluxe Editions were funded in 22 minutes, and we're so excited to enjoy the rest of the campaign with you! We'll be sharing some news next week about a new component for Deadwood Deluxe, a Dark Cities 10-year item for all backers, a reduced pricing option for upgrade kits, and more.

In the meantime we just wanted to say thank you for being such a kind and enthusiastic community. We're lucky to have you! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and we'll update you again in a few days!

P.S. We played Deadwood with some neighbors last night and Holly made chocolate chip cookies, as she often does for our play-testers. We've added the recipe she uses below. Try it out or let us know if you have a go-to game night snack!
